A full renovation of a Victorian Townhouse in Fulham, Studio Jo Cowen fully reconfigured the internal layout and a full subterranean excavation to allow for a large basement. The layout reconfiguration suited the client’s requirements for a modern, functional and elegant family home.

The entrance opens to a timber frame Crittall style screen, allowing the maximum amount of light to flow through the open plan living area. Fully bespoke joinery to include a bar area is finished in bold tones, antique mirror backing and bronze metal trim details. The colour palette is used consistently and purposefully throughout the house. This helps to bring continuity and a sense of identity in this elegant home.

Full width Crittall style doors and windows are used at the rear extension which help give a contemporary, yet traditional feel to the rear living space and kitchen. Kitchen cabinets are fully bespoke and designed in a shaker style. The kitchen worktops are finished with a natural stone countertop.

The fully bespoke staircase is finished in a rich, medium oak with matching solid oak handrail. The finish of the stair matches the tone and texture used on the parquet flooring.

The overall feel of this home is refined, elegant, functional yet comfortable.
